  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (room temp)
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened (room temp)
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cream cheese glaze by whipping softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and milk; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and red food coloring.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Preheat waffle iron and lightly grease it. Pour about one cup of batter onto the grid and cook until crispy (about 3 minutes). Repeat with remaining batter.
  5. Serve warm topped with cream cheese glaze.
