Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ranch dressing by whisking together mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, parsley, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Add milk gradually to reach desired consistency. Refrigerate until serving.
  2. In one bowl, mix flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. Dip each mushroom slice into the egg mixture followed by the flour mixture to coat completely. Allow them to rest on a plate for five minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushroom slices in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve hot with ranch dressing for dipping.
