  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. 2. Combine eggs, ice water, and lemon juice; mix into flour mixture until dough forms. Divide into two pieces and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Toss sliced apples with sugars, cornstarch, and spices.
  4. 4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out larger dough piece to fit a greased 9×13-inch pan; press into the pan.
  5. 5. Spread apple filling evenly over the crust, then cover with rolled-out top crust; vent the top by cutting slits.
  6. 6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before glazing.
