Ingredients
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread (day-old preferred)
- 1 lb ribeye steak (or deli roast beef/chicken)
- 8 oz provolone cheese (or mozzarella/American cheese)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 bell pepper (sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice onion and bell pepper thinly; mince garlic and slice ribeye steak into thin strips.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter and sauté onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in sliced ribeye steak and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Cook until steak is browned.
- Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the inside.
- Spoon the cheesesteak mixture into each half of the bread and top with provolone cheese slices.
- Wrap each half in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet; bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap during the last 5 minutes to allow cheese to melt fully.
